This organization was founded in 1967 by parents and players of both the Mad River Township and Riverside Township communities. The community had a great understanding of the need that children had for youth sports. They came together with one goal in mind, that was to create a organization that would give thier children a place to learn and play Football and Cheerleading. That is how the Mad River Pee Wee Association (also known as the Tomahawks)was created. The Tomahawks are a NON-profit organization ran by a panel of voting board members and the parents of the organization. It has been a goal to work with the Mad River School district to develope a winning program through out the whole city. At the end of 2004 the Mad River School district addopted the "Indians" as the universal school mascot for all schools in the district. The Tomahawk board felt that we would give the school distric our support by changing our mascot from the "Tomahawk" to the "Indian". In January of 2005 the Tomahawk Board voted in the name and mascot change to the Indians. It is our plesure to be called the Mad River Indians.

Currently the Indians organization has over 200 children per year participating. These children make up five tackle football teams and five cheerleading squads. Each football team consists of 25 athletes. The cheerleading squads are made up of 20 members. The Indians season starts in late July and can run into late November. Each team plays eight regular season football games, and a tournament Located at the Mad River Community Park on Old Harshman Rd, off Springfield St.
